What We Provide : Summary of Cover
Our cover helps fund legal costs for a wide range of disputes relating to the operation of a ship. For example, current cover includes claims or disputes:
- under charterparties, such as off-hire, withdrawal, speed and performance, freight or laytime and demurrage disputes.
- under bills of lading, contracts of affreightment and other contracts of carriage (including the exercise of contractual rights).
- regarding the supply of equipment or fuel to a ship.
- with agents, stevedores, chandlers and brokers.
- by or against passengers, officers, crew or stowaways.
- concerning the building, sale or purchase of a ship.
- involving salvage services.
- involving underwriters.
- by or against classification societies and,
- involving customs, revenue or public authorities or departments of state.
The "Omnibus Rule" gives the Club Directors unfettered discretion to apply cover to claims other than those specifically set out in the Rules.
